Well, Joey was officially hired by USA Trucks! He left Monday morning for orientation and is out now with a trainer for his on the job training (getting used tot he trucks the company runs, their policies, etc....). He actually just stopped home last night to get the car since he could get to the terminal where he is meeting his trainer earlier then the bus could have (the bus was late and would have left him about an hour away from the terminal)... as soon as he got there he was headed for South Carolina with the trainer to bring his first load. He will be with his trainer for 4 to 6 weeks, depending on how quick he picks up on the company's policies and what not, then back to the Van Beuren terminal for a few days, then home for 5 straight days paid. He should be stopping home when he gets back from S Carolina. For the first month or so while he is with the trainer, he will be home every few days, then once he gets in his own truck, it will be easier to know his schedule.
I'm doing ok with him being gone. He doesn't realize how big of a step this is for me, to be ok with him being gone like this and not be freaking out, lol... 5 years ago I would have been pretty paranoid with him being gone like this and around the Tractor Tramps in the truck stops, lol, but I know he would never do anything behind my back, so I am ok with it all, lol...And I guess I can thank the girl who was spreading the rumors back at Elmendorf for showing me that when the rumors were happening and he had the opportunity, he didn't do anything....
He is pretty sure he will be able to have access to his email once he gets in the truck (they have in-cab email to help keep in touch with their families, so depending on what his trainer does, he should be able to check it once a day or so).
I'm not too sure about this company's ride along policy.I know some companies were immediate family only and any kids had to be 5 or older. Not sure what the policies are with USA, he will find out when he drives more....
JJ likes to draw and color pictures for Daddy while he is gone, to tell him all about his day, lol, I think I am going tog et Big Joey a small scrap book to put all the pictures and every thing in, he even tries to write him an actual note, but those are harder for him, so he mostly does pictures.
It will probably be easier to keep in touch when we can actually get him the lap top we have been talking about, then we can use the chat feature GMail has and, as silly as it may seem, chat while playing the game we both play, lol...
